世界が広がった夏。13歳リサコさんが語るミルヒルでの学び。
こんにちは、リサコです。私は13歳で、今年Mill Hill Summer School（ミルヒル・サマースクール）に参加しました。英語をもっと上達させたいという気持ちと、世界中から来る友達と出会いたいという理由で、この留学プログラムに挑戦しました。
さまざまなアクティビティの中で、特に楽しかったのはボウリングです。友達と一緒に盛り上がることができ、さらに会場で英語を使って飲み物を注文するなど、実際に英語を使う場面が多く、とても貴重な経験になりました。
英語の授業も素晴らしかったです。最初の頃はフォーマルなレッスンから始まりましたが、1週間が過ぎると料理をしたり、写真撮影のために外へ出かけたりと、テーマに合わせた実践的な内容に変わっていきました。2週目のテーマが「写真」だったこともあり、楽しみながら自然と英語力を伸ばすことができました。
ミルヒルでできた友達とは、英語や日本語だけでなく、ドイツ語やトルコ語など、いろいろな言語を使いながら会話を楽しみました。今年はトルコ語のような新しい言語にも触れることができ、異文化交流を通して学ぶ面白さを実感しました。
このサマースクールを通じて、自分の考え方も大きく変わったと感じています。英語だけでなく、中国語、トルコ語、ロシア語など、多くの言語に触れ、多様な背景を持つ仲間と関わることで、国際的な視野が広がりました。本当に貴重な経験で、もっと成長したいという気持ちが強くなりました。来年もぜひ参加したいと思っています。
プログラムを終えた今は、参加前よりも自信を持てるようになりました。ミルヒル・サマースクールに参加する皆さんも、きっと楽しい時間を過ごし、英語を学び、世界中の新しい友達と出会えると思います。素敵な経験になることを心から願っています。
Hello, my name is Risako. I’m 13 years old, and I joined the Mill Hill Summer School this year. I decided to attend because I wanted to improve my English and also make friends from other countries.
My favourite activity at Mill Hill was bowling. We got to play with our friends, and afterwards we were able to order drinks at the venue, which made the whole experience really fun.
The English classes at Mill Hill were amazing. At first, the lessons were quite formal, but after the first week we had opportunities to do activities like cooking, and we also went outside to take photographs because the second week’s theme was photography.
I also had many conversations with the friends I made at Mill Hill, using not only English and Japanese but also other languages such as German and sometimes Turkish. Learning a new language like Turkish this year was a really fun experience.
I feel that my mindset has changed after attending the Mill Hill Summer School. I had so many chances to talk with people from different countries, not only in English but also in languages like Chinese, Turkish, and Russian. It was a wonderful experience, and I want to keep improving myself. I would love to join the school again next year.
After the summer school, I also feel more confident than before. I hope that everyone who joins Mill Hill Summer School will enjoy their time, improve their English, make new friends from other countries, and have fun together.
